Dr. Joseph Yang was a commissioner of The Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine ((ACAOM) in The United States from 2009 to 2014, dedicated himself for the traditional medicine education. He has been practice in the acupuncture and herb medicine formula since 1984 after he had his Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) bachelor degree after 5 years university study, and the master degree in TCM diagnosis in 1987. Dr. Yang had training in psychiatry department, Aichi Medical School, Japan for a year and then Dr. Yang earned his Ph. D. degree in neuropsychiatry department, medical school, Kobe university, Japan in 1998. Since 1980’s, he has worked in the national leveled project of liver disease in China. In 1996, he has been elected and invited as the representative of Young Psychiatrist attended the international meeting in Shanghai China and talked about the earthquake and mental health issues.
Dr. Yang is working as professor as invited in multiple traditional medicine schools for the doctoral program and give the lecture for professional continuing education. Dr. Yang also has started his personal training programs in mental health and other clinic issues. In 2016 to 2017, Dr. Yang has finished the design and lectured the first mental health doctoral program in Alhambra Medical School. Dr. Yang has been invited as a visiting professor and opened his first work office in the citizen hospital of the city, Mudanjiang, China and has been honored a local citizenship from the city government. Now he is the founder of the American Institute of Mental Health in TCM, which will be started in August 2018. Dr. Yang is the chief director of Mental Health Committee of The American TCM Association (ATCMA), the vice chief director of Specialty Committee of Mental Health Committee, a council member of Specialty Committee of Internal Medicine and a council member of Specialty Committee of Brain Disease of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. Dr. Yang has been specialized in mental health for over 30 years and has his own treatment style and techniques. Dr. Yang is working on the clinical type of many mental disorders include anxiety, depression, bipolar, stress/trauma reaction, and chronic schizophrenia, and so on. Based on his experience and study, Dr. Yang is performing his four major treatment modalities when treating mental disorders but not limited to it, those are TCM mental health acupuncture, herbology, psychotherapy and conservation all in traditional style and based on the TCM knowledge. Dr. Yang is keeping to explore and practice the traditional ideas and continually to develop it into a new level in our modern society. |
