Snohomish Brown DACM, LAc, CMT is a Doctor of Acupuncture Chinese Medicine, Herbalist, and Acupuncturist with a strong background in the healing arts. He has over fifteen years of clinical experience treating injuries and chronic pain with myofascia release, lymphatic drainage, and trigger point massage. He teaches Qi Gong and Tai Chi energy cultivation and shares an integrative medicine clinic space near Beverly Hills on Wilshire.
Snohomish began working with Dr. Yang in 2012 as a student intern at Yo San University student clinic. Following graduation he began working as an assistant supervisor under the direction of Dr. Yang as the lead supervisor in the clinic. In this way, Snohomish began to apply much of Dr. Yang's theory of Shen Diagnosis and began to apply it in his own private practice as well.
He has been volunteering with regional integrative medical teams at large outdoor festivals and supporting harm reduction efforts by treating patients under emergency conditions. He enjoys working with other health care professionals in these environments as his application of Chinese medicine is often more effective than other interventions.
He was invited this year to join World Societies of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Harbin China and published a case study with the committee of mental disorders earlier this year. This integrative case review combines Western protocols with traditional Shen diagnosis as taught by Dr. Yang in his training seminars. Dr. Yang was also honored to lead this committee as Vice Chairman and presented his Shen diagnosis philosophy and treatment system where many observed with much interest and admiration. Snohomish was honored to participate in the committee as well as a Chief Council member of the Specialty Committee of Mental Disorders and will return in 2023 for the next meeting.
Since his return, he has been inspired to collaborate with his fellow practitioners to champion the cause of treating mental health disorder with traditional Chinese medicine here in the United States. Currently, he is working on building a clinical tool to easily identify Shen diagnosis patterns with the American Institute of Mental Health in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is his hope that this tool becomes a useful resource to assist with enhanced treatment for mental health issues.
